I don't think that there is a word in the English language that can describe the exact feeling I get when I realize that I am a grown up who pays her own rent, does her own work and will soon have to file for her own insurance. There's nothing quite like your dad letting you know that you are no longer a tax write-off ("You'll get some great returns this year, hon!")to bring your adulthood to light.
I'm living in Seattle now with my sister. Still working hard to get a job in the psychological/medical field, but I'm paying the bills by working at a tiny Russian bakery on Pike's Place Market. Great place, but I'd like to get more hours so that I could be eligible for the health benefits.
I love, love love love LOVE living with Susan. Simply put, my sister is the Fucking Shit. I have someone to complain to, someone to nerd out on Final Fantasy games with, someone to eat Thai food with, someone to cry to.
I also LOVE living in Seattle. I am blessed to be in such a beautiful place with so much opportunity.
One of the things I love the most is the fact that Seattle is so close to the ocean. My work is only a 15-20 minute walk from my apartment, and when I make that walk every morning, Puget Sound is there to greet me. Seeing one of God's most beautiful creations every morning certainly sets the mood for a nice day.
The people in Seatlle are also amazing. I've met so many awesome new freinds. Yael, Susan's crazy Israeli co-worker; Tiare, my coworker at Piroshky Piroshky (Russian bakery where I work) who has probably been everywhere and done everything imaginable; Tatyana, who is my Babushka even though she doesn't speak much English; and my boyfriend John, an atheist who follows the teachings of Christ better than many Christians I know.
Loving Seattle. Loving my life.
Loving being a grown up

Your username intrigued me. Is it from the Moomintroll books or something?
